Google Update - has it happened?

Hi,

I've noticed that although I have more indexed pages, my number of links has dropped quite significantly and Google page rank has stayed the same. I have been slowly but gradually building links so a bit confused as to why this has happened. Can anyone shed any light on the matter - has the update finished or is it still in process? For a bit of background it is a relatively new ecommerce site launched in November 2006.

During updates, you may expect up to 40% drop in back links, it's normal, I see that happening all the time. Don't worry, back links will be back. Also, updates are independent for each web site, no one can tell you when your's is over.

alex is right.. its usually normal... just monitor your rankings and continue optimizing your site to maintain it...

but how come it gets dropped for what reason ?

maybe the links that has submitted to directories and some of the link exchange partners remove the links to their site... it is advisable to monitor your links regularly.. more importantly,, to those sites where you can get traffics and has high page rank..

all webmaster updating their sites regularly right. so that in times of Google Updates some sites DROPS and others UP.

But its normal... you can do is continue SEO your site.

The next update will be this July. What is the reason why keywords is taken out in Google.? Is does affect what it said "universal search".?
