MSN Search : A threat to Google?

MSN Search, http://search.msn.com/
Is it a threat to google?
I was reminded of it when I was sitting in a car looking out the window, when an MSN Search advertisement board caught my eye, it was a french one (in montreal).
Personally I dont think it will surpass Google, since there are many loyal "Googlers".
I think though there will be many new users (new to computers) using it since knowing microsoft will use it as the standard search in their operating systems.
With the power of microsoft, anything is possible.. well almost anything. It could end up like Internet Explorer though, a better browser like FireFox is used more and more these days. Even me, I use a mac now (recently switched) and i have my basics set down, FireFox with Google as my homepage.

Opinions?

I think it's unfortunate that people will get sucked into inferior search, simply because it's from Microsoft. On the other hand, competition is welcome

No. Google actually takes the time to hear their customers and are open to suggestions for new features. Google is also witty and funny, unlike Microsoft(do they ever even try?). Even though their holiday/special occasion logo touch-ups are very simple, they're better than anything Microsoft does in celebration of any occassion. Simplicity wins .

Facts To Ponder

When you install a new version of Windows XP and first connect to the Internet what is your default web page? MSN

The new version of windows (longhorn) arriving soon will have built in search capabilities using MSN search.

I have already noticed TV ads for MSN search. Google and Yahoo have none.

I think Google is about to be dethroned.

Why, because the entire world watches TV and believes what they see? I find that hard to believe.

I'll agree on that, it’s not all about advertisement there’s more things to a company than advertisement.

Wile I agree that TV ads may not make a difference the fact that the new version of windows will alwayse be using MSN as the default search engine will make a huge difference in my opinion.
