a site with multiple domain names or a company with multiple sites. whats ur opinion?

hi everyone!
it is said that if a site has more than one domain, it is bad for SEO. beside having the traffic getting distributed, i heard somewhere that google doesnt like this. is it true? and if so, can having multiple domains for same company but having different contents within each domains avoid the google's dislike?

Hmm, I heard it too actually.

Usually web sites on multiple domains targets different countries, then I think Google diverts traffic according to closest keyword match and user location.

If you have multiple domains and exactly the same content, then Google will be confused which one they should treat as primary.

You can have multiple domains and yes, they must have different content.
The best practice is to target domains by country or region.

How is your web site doing? Is it back in Google?

. someone from another forum said may be cos my site has changed (the filenames and contents), this happened and said that it might take months to get back to normal. may be this is true. cos last time, when the site lost its rank after site change, it came back just after very few days. so, may be this lost of my site from google this time is the actual result of site change( and not the one from last time).
and guess what, alex!!! now, i've starting doing realtime php programmings

... beside seo. seo is a real headache for me.

its really strange!!
the site came to 300+ position this morning. but then right now, its again nowhere to be found... nowhere in the total google results.
and yeah, php programming? i am enjoying it...i know i will be good at it...

Hi Tenzin,

I just remembered, that the same thing happened to one of my web sites. It was in top 20, then I haven't been updating it for 6 months and it disappeared form Google. It took 1.5-2 months to come back to same position after I updated it. So, I guess it's a waiting game now at this point.
