Google have crawled your website, before submission of sitemap. try to search for site:yoursite.com in google search, identify the all the url which is there in search results match them with your sitemap URLs(I hope all the urls in the sitemap are working correctly). If any url is there in search results and is not there in sitemap then google show such errors.
Now Log-in to Google Sitemap, go to tools >> URL Removal Request. Add that url in url removal request. Google will remove that url from its index, and you will not get 404 error in sitemap. |

404 serves as an error message for pages that are not available. Check your links and maybe you have mispelled any URLs or had one page deleted from the site. Or just simply create a page exclusive to unavailable pages. |

Thank you very much for your guidance, very kind of you. As I am new in this field, I had no idea that I had to remove URL’s using the google tools. In fact I had ebooks site under the same domain which I changed to a jewelry site, this why all the old URL’s were still available. As per your guidance, I did remove all the old URL’s and I also did generate a new sitemap for the jewelry site, hope this will solve the 404 error message. Any idea how log it takes to remove those URL’s ? Thanks again for you all Best regards Alkhataat |
