desperate enough to ask "how can i get my site on top?"
hi everyone,
i've been reading about seo from quite a time. i know what is needed to be done for seo(ie keyword and title optimization, directory submission, but i am not comfortable putting link exchange page in our standard site...other than that we have natural inbound links since we build sites and those sites have link to our sites). the nature of seo has made me love other web jobs and i tried to move to php. but the problem is that my boss is not letting me leave seo. he says he wants our office site on top in google SERP( i know what matters is increase in traffic and increase in sales, but we believe with getting top in google SERP, increase in traffic and sales is bound to come). and boss is also not wrong, cos the sites which are above us and which are topping the list are ones, which are poorly optimized, which are not as old as our site and so on.....ours is PR 5 site and theirs is PR 2 and so on...so, he doesnt understand how google is treating the sites. now, i have done everything i can and as expected, nothing much is happening regarding the coming of site to the top. i am not surprised to see it not working much but still i have to bring it to the top. our site is right now in 20-30 position. so, at last, i am left with no option but to ask HOW CAN I GET OUR SITE ON TOP?? i know i wont get a proper answer. but still....its a good feeling to let my heart out here..... First, it takes a lot of time - you may need to allow for more patience. Second, work on building a quality website. As tamecrow wrote here, this is ultimately what Google wants to see in determining where to rank your site.

Don't be afraid with reciprocal linking (or link exchange)..sometimes they are helpful -depends on some factors (if the link is quality, good traffic, PR, quality backlinks, etc.) You just have to keep it in a minimum amount.. Hope this could help Google ranking factors
