Help with trying to increase my webpage ranking!

I have just started a business and have a website now up and running and I am just trying to find out how I can increase my google ranking to make my site appear further up the page. Probably like everyone wants for there site I suppose. Any help would be great I have been told that the more links you have to your page helps is this correct?
My website is www.customcubbies.com.au feel free to take alot and pass on any advise you have.

I don't mind positive or negative advice, it all helps.

focus more in ibl pointing to your site...

Thanks, not sure what ibl is but was hoping for some tips or ideas that wouldn't cost me cash at the moment. Maybe try a service later when cash flow is better Thanks again

yes, inbound links pointing to your site. you the option to trade links or buy text links...btw, you can also submit to directories...

Thanks I will try to find some directories and see about trading links with people if anyone is interested in this or has any ideas on where to start searching for the directories that would be great.

ranking on google are based on IBL..the more links to your site, the more chances to get good in SERPS...

just came across a list of directories..hope it helps.
