Google maps integrated into websites

Hi ^^

I've got a question and I don't know who could help me.
I'm concerned about the protection of privacy at google.

So my question:
When a online community integrates googlemaps into their service
(lets say, to locate user or to measure the distance between users)
what kind of data is send to google?
will google see the IP ?
So could google track back who used the website?

and is googlesyndicate involved in this data transfer?
thank you
