Page rank question from newbie!!

Hi I have started my own website for my Cubby house building business, www.customcubbies.com.au site has been designed by a friend using Mambo "Only second site he has done" and I am trying to increase my ranking with google like everyone is. I have started placing ibl in directories and I am interested in some tips on how google does a pank range for sites. I have placed meta tags on my site 18 keywords in total such as cubby, cubbyhouse, kids, playhouse and so on, which I think will work for my site. I have looked at a few other cubby house sites and some have a great page ranking 4-6 but mine is 0. Will this change when all ibl start linking or should my content be changed in any way. Take a look and let me know what you guys think, all help is much appreciated.

To get a bigger PR you have to have a lot of sites linking to U and not just any sites. Your site has at the moment 2 links in MSN and 4 in Theoma, Google has found 0 links to your site. This is not enough fo even PR1. Check the link pop. on the other sites and you'll see what I am talking about.

Thanks Goczilla for your tips, I have been trying to add my site to as many free directories as I can find, if I check my stats through website control panel it shows 27 links but yes when I try links in Google it shows none but I know for a fact I have at least 2 links to friends websites but google not showing them at all maybe there site have poor rankings also. I was just hoping for some tips or advice from people who have had any luck with link directories or raising there google page rank. There is a lot of programs and companies offering help with page ranking and so-on for a fee but I was just wandering how many actually work and how many are just rip offs.
So if anyone has any experience or dealings with any such programs or companies I would love to hear what the outcomes where.
