Default Language in Spanish?

Hi everyone. First post to the forums. Did a search and couldn't find anything about this...

When I type 'www.google.com' into my address bar it automatically redirects me to 'www.google.es' and everything is displayed in Spanish. Why is this? All my settings and prefs. are for English. Coincidentally the same thing happens in blogger. The bar across the top is in Spanish. It only started happening in the past week or so. Have cleared all my cookies and history and restarted my browser. Happens in Explorer, Netscape, Flock, Safari and Firefox browsers.

Is this because my IP address is in Spanish Harlem NY? Does Google do that sort of thing according to population?

Thanks for any help

:EDIT: Found this link in another thread. Seems like its something to do with my ISP.
How do I stop Google.com from redirecting to another Google domain?

thats its also according to your location... but you can edit your home page browser settings..

example for Firefox: Tools-option-select main tabs-and the paste the url of google.com in english

and besides theres an option on google home page that you can view to google in english

I know about the options on the page for english. The problem is the default language that it displays in each time I visit. Google says that they recently updated their files(errantly I guess) and some Ip addresses have wrong data accociated with them. I contacted Google and they had this to say.

Thank you for your note. We recently updated our location files and we
understand you're now being redirected to Google. As you may know,
we normally redirect users in countries other than the United States from
Google.com to one of our country-specific sites (e.g. Google for
Google UK) to provide easy access to country-specific search features.

We investigated the IP address you provided and have verified that we now
have the correct information on file for your location. In some instances,
it can take more than a month for these issues to be resolved.

In the meantime, if you'd prefer to visit a domain other than the one
we're redirecting you to, you can set a bookmark for that specific domain.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, and we appreciate your

Default language switched to Spanish

It has happened again! Google is defaulting to Spanish for me. I tried deleting the cookies and going to google.com again but it's still in Spanish. So the problem must be in Google's server.

Guess I have another reason to use ixquick besides the fact that they delete your queries after you leave the site.

Yep, happened to me again, too

My Google defaulted to the .ES page a few weeks ago. After a day it went back to .COM as the default. Today it happened again. I don't need to reset the LANGUAGE to English. Most of the sites come up in English anyway. But I'm searching for the best price on products I want to buy, and the shipping costs from Spain are killing me!!!
Seriously, I think Google is going to lose market share over this.
