Area Specific Keywords

Is it necessary to include your area after each keyword. For example if I owned a flower shop in Atlanta GA is it best to use keywords like:

keywords= "Flower Shop Atlanta GA, Roses Atlanta Ga, Tulips Atlanta GA,"

as opposed to:

keywords= "Flower Shop, Roses, Tulips, Atlanta GA"

Thank you.

I doubt that your site has enough power behind it to rank for keywords like "Flower Shop, Roses, Tulips, Atlanta GA" (yet)

You want to target keywords that are relatively easy to achieve and that are in the range of your sites power. It would be wise to have very targeted keywords such as "Flower Shop Atlanta GA, Roses Atlanta Ga, Tulips Atlanta GA," because these keywords are easier to achieve.

I would suggest making map with every state. Unique content on each state page and focus on major cities. Focus on getting links. Use social media outlets and blogs to help drive in some traffic and links.

The status of your site will give you an idea of what keywords are within your reach. Of course your goal is rank for flower shop, roses, tulips and so forth but in reality you wont rank for these keywords without a effective SEO campaign and a lot of time.

Thank you.

I don't quite know what you mean by "power" but I understand you reply.

ps. "example" and "if" were the keywords in this post (I don't have a flower shop)

By power i mean the status of your site in the search engines. factors which play apart of your "power" are the following.

Page Rank
Links
Rank Base
and all around search engine presence.

Each factor plays a part in the power of your site.

For example a powerful site doesn't need to do much work to rank for powerful keywords. They are trusted by the engines and with a little modification they can start ranking for top tier keywords.

But a site that has very little power (links, PR, etc) will have to work much harder to achieve top tier keywords. And in many cases its a waste of time to target such high end keywords as the competition will dominate you. You must build your site to compete with your competition. continually building links and working on your SEO.
