Google and his results

Hello there, i'm new here and i found this forum with Google of course.
Since i only use google i'm interested to make you see this.

I'e just searched for a plant name: "Neoporteria neohankeanna". Well i know for sure that it would exist since i posted a image of this plant on a forum but seems like google can't see it
I tried to see if Yahoo! could see it and it works.
I have tried also with other words from this forum and google, instead of Yahoo!, doesn't show them.

I ask you, why it happens?
Maybe google avoids to check this words because of spams?
It's strange cause something the Google Bot visits this forum (almost all days)

Dany

DanyD, what information do you have in the meta data of that image? Are there keywords associated with the subject? Is that species name included?

It looks like all you have done is post an image in a forum topic that is hosted on one server and embedded an image that is hosted by another site on another server. How is Google supposed to make the connection between words in a forum post on one site with an image hosted on another? It is also possible for a forum owner to limit or prevent Google from indexing a forum. It doesn't seem like that is happening here, but it is very possible and very easy to keep Google, Yahoo or any other search engine from indexing your site. Aside from all of that, if words are spelled incorrectly then results in a search engine will be disappointing.

I'll admit that you got my interest up with this question so I looked in to this a bit. You aren't seeing results for neoporteria neohankeanna because that species actually does not exist. However, according to cactiguide.com the neoporteria neohankeana is a cacti variety with a very pretty pink, red or yellow flower on top from South America.

Here are some steps to ensure that your images end up in the Google or Yahoo image index:
  1. Post them where the spiders can find them. Don't post them to a site that blocks search engine access. If you are going to host the images in one place and use them for forum posts try Picasa Web Albums (free, 1GB storage) or Yahoo's Flickr (free with it's own worse set of limitations). I promise you they will be indexed at either one of those sites.
  2. Spell the names properly. I know that Italian is your language (at least that was the language Google translated that forum post from), but check your spelling. In under 5 minutes I was able to determine what went wrong for you here by checking the spelling. Even though your forum post was in Italian you spelled that cactus variety the same way.
  3. Associate keywords with the image. Use a program to embed IPTC standard keywords. Oddly enough, Google's Picasa application does this and then will publish your pictures to Web Albums for you to use in blog posts or forum topics. If you have as good a grasp on English as you seem to you can read about IPTC here:IPTC Data
The only way that any search engine can accurately index a site and associate certain words with an image is if that image has those words embedded in it's meta data. I know how important it is to have images related to your hobby show up in search engines when your intention is to share the information with others. Take a few basic steps and this will be a lot easier for you to get the results that you are looking for.

Hey DanyD what language is on that forum? I just wondering if local (country) google page (ex. google.es - google Spain) will show your result but I've just noticed that particular page is not yet indexed by google. If you could provided strong back link towards that page, it might help index that page and be included in search result in google.

I think an alt attribute will help your image get indexed!
