Hate the new igoogle home page

What is with all the extra text and no option to turn it off?

The vast majority of the text is inane and the other stuff I'd rather not have up there.

And, now my homepage doesn't fit on one screen.

I also HATE the new homepage

When I first started using iGoogle there was so much choice and customization. Now they have taken away the ability to "add by URL" and changed the looks of my homepage and not given any options to get back to what I like. I hate the tabs on the side and I aslo do not like the extra text.
I did not mind the mouse over text pop-ups but this new style takes up too much space.

Google has irritated me too often lately. I believe I may look for other option regarding my web usage, unless they can go back to the freedom of choice that they started with.

There aren't a lot of things Google does wrong. But this was DEFINITELY one of them! Change it back Google, PLEASE.

I want my igoogle page back

WTF??? I want my igoogle page back like it was! Google has no business changing my setup without at least allowing me to change it back.

Why didn't they tell us this was going to happen?

    Bad Google!!! Bad! BAD!!!

This is very bad. I hate this new iGoogle. This isn't the first time they changed or removed options in iGoogle. I would like to have the "add by URL" option on the "add stuff" page returned.

Of course if this forum is not affiliated with Google then it seems we are just pissing in the wind!

Ditto! I've protested many places, including Web Search Google Group. Gray space at left is wasted, especially for users like me who have but one "tab" and who can "index" the one page for themselves, by sight alone.

(Really and truly, I don't even need the tab at top!)

But I think Google is not listening, and for now I've switched to Netvibes as my home page.

I also want my homepage back!! What's with those stupid tabs on the side that take up all that room? If anyone can figure out how to get them to change it back or give us the option, then by all means let us know.

Can anyone tell me why everytime I open an email, the new page won't load, but defaults to the email page, and is stuck there. The only fix I've found is to re-boot. And that doesn't solve the problem every time. I have employees that are having the same problem on their computers.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated

    Thanks,

    Walt

Try clicking on the "home" tab at the top left. Took me a bit to figure it out also. This new format isn't working for me at all.

    New iGoogle Homepage???

Wow, I just spent an hour looking around trying to figure out what settings I had accidently changed to produce all of the unwanted text that suddenly appeared on my Google Homepage late yesterday or today. I guess I didn't do this. I am also wondering how I can get rid of this text.

Thumbs down Hate the new home page

I am so frustrated. In order to see the time, the weather and other gadgets, I now have to click on the links one-by-one. I want it back on a single page!
This morning when I went online, iGoogle opened up on the news page which was all on one page, but I could not get my home page to open up.
I hope someone out there in Googleland is reading this thread and will realize that there must be a lot of other frustrated users who haven't found their way to this forum. I had to do a Google search to get here!

I am finding that it is not stable! I find I have to click numerous times to close out what window I am in. gmail is all screwed up...

I hate the waste of space with the left menu.

I give the change a huge thumbs down. I am going to switch out of having igoogle for a home page. It's a nightmare. I was so happy with the previous version. It seems really bad to make such huge changes without an explanation ahead of time... no warning.

I'm building my own home page on my own server. I like Google for so many things but I don't like the new igoogle.

I am switching out of gmail asap.

There is some interesting background on the iGoogle homepage change here.

The new home page is a piece of crap. So much space is wasted by putting the tabs on the left of the page rather than leaving them where they were, on top. Get rid of the "gadgets" and give us our old home page PLEASE.

    Side Tab Fix

Or should I say work around. Saw this in another site and it works. Change your location in the i Google "My Account" to UK and language to English UK instead of America, use this page iGoogle sign in and your tabs are back at the top.

Why is the US site blocked from this, the whole reason I used Google Home was its customization, I am definitely going back to yahoo, I don't have time to waste searching around thinking I changed some setting on my own. Responsible companies do not blind side users and not warn them. Very disappointed.

    Thumbs down

I second that! Or third it, or fifteenth it, or whatever. I give the new iGoogle page a pan.

    1. Gmail now opens within my theme in a reduced-functionality mode. Links, such as in forum registration and subscribed topic notification emails, are no longer clickable! I see how this is a security enhancement for idiots that might randomly click links in spam messages, but for those of us that know better than that it's a pain in da butt. This should be a user-configurable setting, meaning it's OK to have "show links as plain text" on by default but let us choose to show them as links in our user settings.

    2. Stability: I was composing a somewhat lengthy email this morning, and once the darn thing deleted several paragraphs of text, then later suddenly returned me to my inbox, discarding my whole message with no auto-saved drafts! It never did that in the old version. I can no longer trust Gmail not to lose my work. Who designed this thing, anyway, Microsoft?

    3. If I click my browser's Home button after having been in full Gmail it returns me to my inbox-within-the-theme, not to my actual iGoogle home page. I have to click that space-wasting Home tab on the left to actually return home. (I hate the tab being on the left too.)

Was this thing ever beta-tested within the user community? Why were these changes forced upon us with no warning? Please, give us the option of switching back to the classic iGoogle page!
