Removing/Uninstalling Personalized Homepage--please help!

can someone please please tell me how we can delete or uninstall or remove the "personalized homepage" feature. every time i sign into gmail it comes up and i hate it. my address becomes visible through google. it's a security problem.

google won't let you change your email address connected with the personalized homepage if it's a gmail one. also, i don't want to delete my google accounts account because i still want my gmail!! pleas help. we can't find this info anywhere! thanks so much

You cannot remove the Personalized Home Page if you are logged in to your Google Account. And in order to log into Gmail, you have to be logged in to your Google Account. Therefore, the only way to insure that the Personalized Home Page option and your email address will not show up on Google is to not record cookies from Google and to not choose to stay logged in when logging into Gmail, and to log out after viewing Gmail.

thank you for your replies. unfortunately, the google faq you supplied offer absolutely no answer to this post--i have poured through them a number of times.

i suppose the very thoughtful first response indicates that there is no solution....no way to turn back the clock and undo having signed up for the personalized option. i just wanted to try it and now what?!

makes me wonder a bit about google and privacy and security. but perhaps they'll fix the problem.

also, i tried disabling the cookies for google.com as the first post suggested but, alas, gmail won't let me sign in without the cookies!!

Can you explain why this is a security issue? And where is your email address visible? For me, when I am logged into gmail or groups and I visit www.google.com/ig, the menu in the upper right is the only place I see my email address. But that is not available to others on the internet, just my browser client. Also, if I log out, then it's no longer displayed there either. So I fail to see the security issue. I am curious to kno what you have seen that scares you so much in regards to security.

Correct, it's not a security issue because it shows your e-mail address. No One else will see it on that page unless you go out giving your password out.
