igoogle and new windows

Hello,
so basically i was just getting annoyed by two things and was wondering if anyone could help me out. the main thing is everytime i click on something from igoogle or the bar at the top of the display for like example gmail, a new window opens up instead of the one im in proceeding to the link. anyone know if i can stop it from opening a new window? (using internet explorer not firefox). and also the second thing was that the personalizing ability to move my icons is cool (news / youtube/ joke of the day) but is there anyway to lock those down so that i dont move them by accedent? thanks for your help guys =)
