It's based on number of visitors (users with the alexa toolbar) which is not at all very acurate since it doesn't measure everyone.

If that's the way Alexa ranks websites, then I say that it can't be anywhere even near the real ranking, using the real number of people who visit the sites.

I started this thread with a post showing that search.yahoo.com seems to copy google.com. And now it looks like Google Directory (http://www.google.com/dirhp) is a copy of the old yahoo search page.
