Google's a word?

This is in the dictionary!?
Quote:
1 entry found for google.
google

<World-Wide Web> The World-Wide Web search engine that
indexes the greatest number of web pages - over two billion by
December 2001 and provides a free service that searches this
index in less than a second.

The site's name is apparently derived from "googol", but
note the difference in spelling.

The "Google" spelling is also used in "The Hitchhikers Guide
to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, in which one of Deep
Thought's designers asks, "And are you not," said Fook,
leaning anxiously foward, "a greater analyst than the
Googleplex Star Thinker in the Seventh Galaxy of Light and
Ingenuity which can calculate the trajectory of every single
dust particle throughout a five-week Dangrabad Beta sand
blizzard?"

Wow, that's cool!

For those, who don't know that is taken from Dictionary.com

I think they have that, because Google and Dictionary.com are connected in some way ( you can see a definition for a word from Google-searching it.

Yeah, but dictionary.com is full of spam. I'd be very surprised if the two were linked?

Of course it's in Dictionary.com

I don't think they're related though.

Yeah but Google asked dictionaries to take out the word because of trademark concerns.

I just read that book a week ago, yet I didn't notice the use of Google there at all, even though I remember the end of that quote.

That only affects WordSpy.com and not Dictionary.com.

Anyway, google's already a generic term, I googled for the article above... =)

i thought google already meant a million millions? or is it a thousand millions? or is it a thousand billions? ahh i forget. but i thought google meant some really big number, and thats why they called it google. because they could search up tons and tons of websites, more than yahoo, lycos, and altavista combined.
