I have read some SEO documents, the sort order of the search result was depend on the density, relavancy, prominency of key-words on your page. Google sort the result by pagerank.

How does the google robot work? What is the principle of the google robot? How do they kown my pages' pagerank?

Does other search engine such as yahoo and msn search use the same rules?

1st things first. Google DOESN'T sort by pagerank (PR)!

The Googlebot searches for new sites and looks at older and updated pages. PR is calculated by the amount of sites that links to you.

yahoo and msn uses different algorithms.

If you read that, make a note of it and never bother with what that person ever writes again.

PR is not the sort order and if it were nothing but volume and location of keywords, then becoming number one would simply be putting the keyword on our page the maximum number of times. In other words, you wouldn't find a single SERP to be worth anything.

Getting good returns in the SERPS is more an art mixed with science. But it's not so simple that you can explain it in a paragraph or two.
