Google.com keeps redirecting me to Google.de (Germany)!

HELP! For some reason, no matter how I try to access "google.com] (searchbar, bookmark, etc.), I keep getting redirected to "google.de" in Germany, even though I'm in the United States! I have checked my computer and have found no viruses, spyware, worms, or trojans. Somehow Google seems to be detecting my IP as being in Germany--directing me accordingly--even though I'm in the U.S.! Sometimes, I'm even directed to "google.co.uk" in Great Britain! Can anybody help me fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'd start with a clean-up.
Clear your history, cache, and Google cookies, and see if that makes a difference.

Nope!

Thanks, Mondine, but that doesn't do the trick! I've tried clearing everything out any number of times. All I can figure is that either my ISP is periodically garbling my IP number when sending it on to Google, or that Google somehow has a problem with my particular IP. Have you or anyone else any other ideas as to how to fix this problem? It's been driving me NUTS for weeks! Thanks!

Well, I don't know if this would work for you, but this is what I did.
My search would default to Google.ca (naturally- that's where I am), but I used the "go to Google.com] link on that page,
and then on the 'dot com' site, clicked the "make this my homepage" button.
Even though I've since changed my homepage, the seach still defaults to Google.com.
Again, I don't know if this would work for you, or not.

I'm temporarily doing something similar to your suggestion.

Mondine--unfortunately, there seems to BE no "go to google.com] link on the German site! However, I have made ONE bookmark that has managed to STAY "google.com] in the U.S. by making that bookmark "google.com/ig" which is the "personalized Google homepage". By the way, this Google redirection problem of mine occurs on ALL of my browsers (Firefox [default], IE, and Opera), which would indicate that it's not a browser (cookies, cache, etc.) problem. Thanks again for your help!

Any other ideas, anybody?

Anybody else out there have any ideas regarding this problem? Normally, as in Mondine's last suggestion, I would just stick to my "google.com/ig" bookmark as a solution, but, unfortunately, Firefox's Home Page has a Google search bar integrated into it, and when Google is in its "German mode", my Firefox Home Page is ALSO written in German! Vas ist los? Thanks again! :P

Weird. So, this happens even while you're logged on to Google (in Gmail, or the personalized home page)?
Who is your Service Provider, by the way?

Have you tried going to Preferences and choosing English as your Interface Language?

Replies to Mondine and Intelliot.

Mondine: No, this doesn't happen once I'm inside Google, it happens (periodically) whenever I try to get into Google via any other means than going to the "google.com/ig" personalized home page. I don't have Gmail. My service provider is Netscape ISP (unfortunately, I don't currently have the money for a DSL or cable provider)--a division of the dreaded AOL. Intelliot: Yes, my default language preference is set to English, so most of the German Google page is actually translated into English (other than headings, etc.). Thanks to both of you for your input! By the way, at the moment, Google is working correctly--but, that doesn't mean anything, as the problem is a periodic one.

They're baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

I give up! I've logged on and off of the internet a couple of times since my last post (even using Mondine's clear everything suggestion), and the first time, Google was back in Germany, and the second time, Google was back in the United Kingdom! I think I must have a undetectable worm or virus or something, and will probably just perform a lobotomy on this computer and start over! Thanks again for all your help!
