Personalized Homepage Problem

Hi all,
I am new to the google community and am hoping that some one could help me figure this out. My firefox browswer will save my log in information and display my personalized homepage with all its customized features when I launch firefox. Internet Explorer, on the other hand, does not allow me to do the same. It instead sends me to the following page: http://www.google.com/ig. This page asks me to sign in, so I sign in, checking the tick box labeled "Remember me on this computer". The page will then load, I will be taken to my personalized home page. I then make this new page my homepage in Internet explorer. The next instance of I.E being launched, however, does not take me to my personalized page, it brings me to http://www.google.com/ig and asks me to sign in again.
In short, I can not get Internet Explorer to take me straight to my personalized home page, I have to sign in every time.
I have spent 2 days searching for a solution and have found none. Please advise.
I use Zonealarm pro with the following cookie control settings: Block 3rd party, Block persistent, Disable web bugs, Remove Private Header info.
I have tried it with no restrictions as well, but no good result.
I have also tried allowing I.E to save encrypted pages to disk, this option is found in Internet Options/advanced/security section of I.E.

mondine is an unknown quantity at this point
I believe it is the "Block Persistent" cookie setting that's causing the problem.
For IE, I'd suggest using a third-party cookie manager, like Cookiewall (freeware).

Also, on the Privacy tab in Internet Options, you can click the Edit button, and explicitly allow cookies for Google.whatever.

Thank you for replying. I tried turning off the blocking of persistently cookies. It first had no effect, but after fiddling with it for a few minutes, I was able to get my home page to stick. Thanks.
