Google love and Bad Neighborhoods.
Questions for anyone who can answers them correctly.
In short, is there a directory of “bad neighborhoods”. Bad Neighborhoods as associated with google, and google search engine listings. You see I am working on a few web sites, and I have read some fairly vague statements here and there around the web (from sources that seem very legitimate, although some info may be outdated, and if it is so outdated, that the bad neighborhoods thing does not apply great. Is it still true that linking to sites that are considered "bad neighborhoods" can hurt your site? I also wonder is there a listing of bad neighborhoods somewhere? Is there a google toolbar add on that could tell me if a site I am considering exchanging with are blacklisted, permanently not indexed, or just part of a bad neighborhood? Web site listing? I think there may have been a time when spotting a bad web site was easy, but today with so many web sites and blogs that repost news stories with commentary, and have long lines of blog rolls, etc, etc, it could be easy for even an experienced webmaster to differentiate what google considers a bad place to link to. Google not releasing their algorithm is fine with me, but a page rank type tool or directory listing will help those who do not know better from getting into bad neighborhoods unknowingly. Heck, a friendly spider could tell and notify a webmaster, send an email or something saying that you are getting into a bad area. Suggest re consider link." Think about, google could have a page for web masters to go to that sells ad sense on it, and get a lot of web master traffic. - and earn revenue. Which reminds me that it certainly would be of good to end users, and google's ad sense program to help create good web sites, by helping people avoid bad web mistakes. Does this not make sense? Oh, and would this crosslinking thing still take effect with all the blogs linking to each other and stuff? I mean where is the line, and what exactly is the definition of crosslinking that gets a web site lowered in the google index? Your answers to these questions will be of great benefit to the entire future if the internet. That is really something. Isn't it. |
