Google Search PR

I am curious as to how Google rates the pages for it's page rank. I read in another forum that if you had a page rank of 0 then it was a banned site or something. How do I get a higher page rank than zero? I have also read something about "reprical links"...how do I get them linking to my site. I think at the moment the only link going to my site is from one of your forums...should that give my site a better PR because surely Google Community has a high page rank...
I think my ranking in google may have improved recently though...when I typed 'gloog' before, it came up on the third page....now it comes up about the thrid or fourth link.
However, I would like to be the first site which comes up when 'gloog' is typed into google...I think I'd get more traffic that way...please help (and if you have a site which has a high page rank and have a place for links to go, it would be much appreciated if you could tell me (or add an ad)).

PR is dependant on the number of inbound links to your site and their ranking. Just get high PR links to linkt o your site and you're alright. As for how to do it. You ask them.

So what do you propose I do?
E-mail lots of high page rank sites and ask them to create a link to my site. I would have thought that websites would get very annoyed at people doing this. If I had a high page rank website and got lots of emails I'd maybe welcome the first few but after a while I would get pretty annoyed. Do you know of any sites that have a high page rank and let people just post their website on the page. I think this would be a good idea. As far as I can tell, all the sites I have found you have to pay to post a link to your site on it. (And I don't want to pay)....Free things rock!!!

Getting PR is not just a mathematical game you really have to do a lot of time consuming work to get that increasing Green bar what I would like to suggest for FREE you must start working on niches directories with relevancy when I say relevancy then it should be... Don’t add URL if there is no suitable category for you web site.

Free things do rock - but value is what keeps the economy going. This is why PR was created.
