How do I know when google has been crawling my page?
Is there any way to check if (or when) google is crawling my page?
I know I can do this by using statcounter or any other stat-script on the web, but what should I look for? Is there a special IP or something? How often should google visit my page? I've been working quite much on SEO lately, but I'm using querystrings like index.php?something - can this stop google from crawling my site? I can see from the "cache" on googlesearch that my page has not been updated for a while now... 2 weeks or so. I would be very happy for any answers from you guys! |

If you want google to index you more you need to contiue to add fresh content. IF every time Google does come by and you have new content they will comre back sooner to catch the new content sooner.

Hi tilbryllupet,
So, to know "who" is browsing/crawling your pages, you need to discover the navigator type. Most of Crawlers have their own types index.php?something is not recommanded. 1 parameter is ok. 2 parameters, far enough. More than 2 params, google on't like you at all. But even with 1 or 2 params, it need to fit this condition: no session or anything else which make your links different everytime a crawler is crawling your website. You see? If you give a session id like www.^*.php?ssid=fZEREGTG4564335434 A new ssid session is attributed to each visit. And google counts an unlimited number of links... I hope it helps. Thx! |

Aha..
Thanks a lot! I'm going to write a few articles and put those out.. hoping that google will find them
Thank you 2 rpapaz! - I'm using querystrings to get my index.php to run the other pages.. in index.php?site1 and then index.php?site2, and a few places I have index.php?main=food&group=cheese .. I guess this is what you mean by 2 parameters.. This is because I run 85% og my site from a dbase, and I don't know how to make everything seem like it runs on plain .html (like www.myweddingfavors.com - running php or asp, but are only listing up .html pages) - but I guess this is a subject for another forum |

Hi
I'm not sure I understand how to do this either. I've read the reply but I think I need it explaining a bit easier! Do I check whether the spiders have visited me from the log files on my web space? Thanks Teeny |

Depending on what traffic stats analyser you have available, it can tell you when and how frequently your site is crawled by different bots. Awstats on my webserver and it tells me exactly how many hits I get from each SE bot and when.
