trading links

I am fairly new to this whole thing, but I have read over and over that getting good quality backlinks is key to getting good search results. Therefore, can anyone suggest some ways to go about getting these 'good quality' backlinks? I am currently trying one of those 'linkshare' sites, but it only seems to cater for 'get rich quick' scam sites and pyramid money making schemes (which I beleive are considered fraud in the UK anyway) .

Is it okay to request a link trade with people here?

There are lots of ways to improve Backlinks
[1] Submit your site in various directories like Dmoz,Zeal,yahoo,skaffe,joeant,go-goodies,gympsy,illumirate and lot more.. here is list of top web directories i created>http://www.seo-resources.inetzeal.co...irectories.htm
[2] Another ways is to Exchange your link with other webmaster.but this is Quite risky and your site may penalize by google if they found you are Exchanging links
[3]Third one is to Write articles and submit it to various site.here is list of some top article sites if you can write article then submit here>>http://www.seo-resources.inetzeal.co...icle-sites.htm
[4]There are lots of Automated Link Exchange programs available here are some of them rsslinkexchange.com,gotlinks,indexguy,linkdash and linkdiy.
[5] Search engines says that if your site is Unique in content or with some Unique features than you will receive Backlinks automatically.whatever is important is to improve Quality of any site.and people will recomend your site..

Excellent info! I will start submitting the site to those directories today!

With regards to writing articles, I think I would be able to, but there are so many regulations when it comes to financial marketing and advice that I would have to be VERY carefull about what I write. I will have a serious think about it though.

Thanks for the information!

Writing articles is an excellent way of getting a few one way links to your site.

Could anyone elaborate a bit more on how one would "publish" an article. Perhaps a few sites that have an easy to use article publishing feature?

You know thats a great question. I hear all the time that publishing articles is a great way to get back links and of generating noise about programs but i have never been able to find a site that lets you do it yourself. every site i have been to you have to submit some details and then wait for someone else to write an article about the program... can anyone suggest a site where you can publish them yourself?

There are lots of websites out there looking for articles. I think one excellent place is right here on Google Community. You can post your article as a new topic, and it will automatically be attributed (with credit) to your account. The information in the article will be helpful to other forum members, and other people can reply to your topic, effectively creating a public feedback forum for your writing. The topics here are indexed by Google, too, so you'll get extra exposure in the search results.

That sounds great, but what can you put in an article? Im trying to create awareness of one of our programs and get a good credit build upin the specific user community. Can you post a descriptive Article about one of your own products?
BTW, what are the google credits? what are they for?

brbrThis is an area in which you just have to use some good judgement, and common sense.brAnd this would (or should) tell you that you can't simply post a promotion for your site or product.brYou can post a topic on the subject which encompasses your product. But these must be useful for general information.brReference to your own product should not be the focus and sole intent.brLinks to promotional materials =bad.brLinks to reference articles, tutorials, etc. are allowed.brbrMany people also make good use of 'search and reply'. If your product is a span style="font-weight: bold;"valid/span response to a question asked, span style="font-style: italic;"then/span a mention of the specific product would be a legitimate response. Your affiliation with the product must be transparent, and excessive 'sales pitches' should be avoided.brFor example, if you are promoting an animation software, you could reply in the thread in the Graphic Design forum on the subject "What Animation Software Do You Use?"brbrJust use good judgement (you don't want to look like a spammer, any more than anyone wants to see spam), and if bryou have any doubt about a particular post or practice, feel free to contact a staff member by PM, and run it by them, first.br
