The Iliad

has any bode read The Iliad by Homer
I know it's very old but I think that ancient Greek literature and their civilization live for ever

any way...
It's the book that the movie Troy was inspired by but the book is way more fascinating

You mean apart from it being like this:
Ťις ις Γρεεκ
(This is Greek)
The T has a tonos above it to signify the 'th' sound.

I've read it in the original Ancient Greek format. Cool for its time. Greek is an easy language IMO. Reading Greek maybe hard for some but learning the language is easy. I know both Modern and Ancient Greek.
Cool, Andrew! You speak Greek? What other languages do you know?

I can write Greek letters, but I can't really string sentences together
I did Latin for a few years, and I've been doing French for the past 4 years. (In Primary school I did Italian, so I know a bit of the basics). Unfortunetely the only foreign language which I can do reasonably well is French....the others were just compulsory subjects in school for the first 2 years.

Has anyone read the book "where Troy once Stood" ?
It's a very good but controversal theory about the true location of Troy, which im pretty certain wasn't in Turkey

I've read Iliad and it's really fascinating how Homer think of writing this stuff during those times
