Video editing

I am struggling with format for video editing. I would like to play the movies I make on a DVD player... how do I convert my WMV files to something that will play through a DVD player?

I use Nero 7 premium. it takes all of my AVI and MPEGs and converts them into a format while burning them to a dvd. You can also have it burn it to an iso so that it doesn't have to re-convert it everytime you want to burn it.
