steve irwin's death : very disheartening

he didnt die at the hands of a croc or a snake, but instead at the hands of a stupid sting ray

it is definitely a black day for australians becoz he was one of the greatest icons in australia

Yeah, your damn right there; he was a great australian figure and a wonderfull ambassodor for australia to the rest of the world. Its such a pity that he died. On talk back radio shows here in Australia there has been a huge response to his death, especially from many people that met him. I heard this one story from a teacher who said that his class had once done an assighnment on endangered animal species, and he had suggested that the whole class write emails to steve erwin's national park to see if they could get any help from a vet or something at the zoo. Instead, Steve Irwin himself replied to all the emails and came to the school, no fee, no charge at all or any conditions, and when questioned by the teacher as to why he did this, he said "It's just something i love to do." Australia and the world will miss him.

Stingray

Stingrays can weigh up to 350kg. The barb is covered by a toxic gel. It would have been like getting stabbed in the heart by a paring knife.

brbrYeah, but their not supposed to be an aggressive animal. From all the reports ive heard, steve must have done something to piss the sting ray off, and thats very hard to say, seeing as every1 thought he was invincible or somethingbr

It's ironic to think that someone like Steve Irwin who has extensive knowledge and expereince handling such dangerous animals like crocs and snakes die from a sting ray wound. It just shows that when your time is up it's up. Steve Irwin will always be remembered for his ability in captivating millions around the world through his interactions with the animals he longed to preserve. The knowledge that he has imparted upon us shall be treaured for generations.
