Best Alternatives to Paypal to use on website?

Too many horror stories about paypal, and too many bad experiences. So I need to find someone else. Could you please tell me any other sites like paypal where I can accept credit card payments on my website without needing a merchant account? Please dont just list random sites which you know nothing about, at least know something about them or have some experience in using them.

Dont say the google payment services, because im in Australia and they are America only.

Actually I don't think there really are any, besides a standard merchant account. I guess you could try greenzap, but I think that's worse.
