Chav makes the dictionary

Chav makes the dictionary

I lifted this from AOL news
Chavs, Asbos and property porn are all features of modern living that have made it into the latest edition of a leading dictionary.

Collins has included 1,500 new words in its English dictionary in a bid to reflect the latest trends in language and culture.

"Chav" is defined as "a young working-class person who dresses in casual sports clothes (perhaps from Romany chavi - a child)".

The dictionary also includes "chavette" ("the female equivalent") and the adjectives "chavish" and "chavtastic" ("suitable for or designed for chavs").

No mention of burbery though?

Chavs are gay dumbasses. That dictionary being referenced by AOL doesn't do justice. UrbanDictionary owns it for free.

Romany, as in the language of the people known to the western world generally as "Gypsies"? I thought that the spelling was "Romany". Anyway, gypsies are widespread all over the world, and although most of their cognitive vocabulary remains intact, differences should be expected, and it's obvious that Persian Romani won't be intelligible with speakers of Indian Romani. I think 'chavi' comes from Anglo-Romani, spoken mostly in Cornwall, home of the Celtic Cornish people, speakers of 'Kernowek', for those who are interested in a linguistic historical lesson.
Romani belongs to the Indo-Aryan or Indic branch of the Indo-European language family, so the influence from Sanskrit remains at large and anthropologists can trace their point of origin through that way. I have never heard anyone speaking Romani first-hand, but it may be similar to Hindi or other modern Indian languages, though I may be wrong, as most Romani languages have developed for a long time in isolation from the rest of the Indo-Aryan languages.

Yer I hate chavs!

BTW-
CHAV = Council House And Violence

But I generalise it - I can tell if someones a chav and its not being dressed in casual sports clothes. They don't have to live in council houses though, this is just common living for a chav.

CHAVUS'PALANTIUS (a)
Also known as a CHAV or townie, this breed of modern nutcases wander endlessly in towns trying to find weaker persons to humiliate. Often aged 12 - 30, a male chav often has had children with a 14 - 16 year old female, they smoke and drink. In some exceptions a chav can be 5+ years old. Chavs are commonly thought of as hooded vandals, and in many cases are, but this is not a true chav. 'Chavism' (a) is a cult of young people who thubj that they are 'hard' (a) and describe themselves as 'chavin' (n) it and 'blingin'' (a)
