What does English sound like to you?

Personally, I think it sounds very sexy, especially when spoken by sexy women.
Anyway, if English is your native language, consider the following choices:
What does Dutch sound like to you, or maybe French? Dutch used to seem like weird English to me, but after learning German, it sounded like weird German, or rather an incompatible amalgamation of German and English.
And to me, French is the real Greek, because I can speak fluent Greek but I haven't been able to yet grasp French.

I hate the English language and I feel sorry for anyone who has to learn it. It's irritating and there are so many complicated words!

I try not to think of myself as one of those really annoying people who wants to correct everything, but it really annoys me when someone uses english badly (but only out of ignorance) e.g. video's; their, they're and there apparently being interchangeable; pointless txt tlk etc. And the Oxford comma *shudders*

lol no one is answering my real question. What does the language sound like to you? And if English is your mother language, what do Dutch or French sound like in your ears?

English sounds the same as Dutch to me (but less ugly I guess). I can understand it and because of that I just hear sentances and words, not just odd sounds and stuff. When you understand a language it changes from a weird and unfamiliar sound to words. It gets meaning. For example, I don't understand Chinese. When I hear that all I hear is a lot of gibberish that sounds pretty funny (to me). Yet when I hear english (or Dutch or German) I hear words.

(am I still understandable?)

Okay, I'm English speaking, so I can't answer your first question. It sounds like the personality of whomever I hear speaking it; or like any language, just discordant if I hear it used very badly.

French has always seemed a passionate language. In the sense of broadly-gestured coffee shop politics, as well as some alluring Quebecois women with whom I was acquainted in my younger days. But then again, a really attractive person could be a mime, and it wouldn't much matter.

Spoken Dutch has always sounded Germanic to me. What little I've heard. I've known quite a few people from Holland, and I've usually just heard them speak near-flawless English. Usually a good deal better that many born in North America.

I am a native English speaker, so I can't say what it sounds like, really, and I've only heard someone speak Dutch once in my life, and that was my first cousin once removed who lived in Amsterdam at the time, and she is not a native Dutch speaker so I'm not able to answer the Dutch question. French, though, sounds really cool, much nicer than English. Or German, I don't like the way German sounds. Interesting question

what do you think about english

ok let me put it this way. English is fun becoz thats how the world communicates. u cannot expect an asian to speak german throughout the world.

But u know in high shchool, u have to take english as your subject and it is boring!!!. They have all these plays and stories that make you sleep... you are forced to read them or else you will fail your exams in english class. So in high school, english as a subject sucks..
