HiMD Player
hey..
planning to buy a Hi-MD player.. looks cool and can store upto 45hrs of music on one disk.. I think better than an mp3 player which has limited memory? But as of now only Sony manufactures it.. so no other option.. any suggestions?? ~noBrains. |

For me personally, I would not go for an MD player. I know that each disk can store a lot of music, but I just hate carrying around disks. I'd highly recommend the new mp3 players which utilize a harddrive. Karma, iPOD, and iRiver are all good mp3 players. They can hold up to 80GB of music, which is plenty enough (I think). Depending on how long you listen to music, you may want to choose your mp3 player based on battery life. I think most of the topline mp3 players have at least 8 hours of battery life which is good for trips or daily listening.

Most people go for hard drive MP3 players these days, you can store thousands of hours on them (your whole library) so it's nice. The main issues are durability and price, most last for a reasonably long time but price is still in the hundreds.

MP3 Players are fine, but again they do have a storage limit and if I go for large disc like iPOD.. its kinda bulky.. while a MD player is very small and sleek. Also had heard that MD's have more clearity than the MP3 players.
The New model which I was speaking about Hi-MD can store upto 1GB on a single mini disc, and this would be upto some 45hrs of music if stored in the lowest encoding format. So won't this be compact than an MP3 player? And the battery lasts for 20-22 hours. And being shock resistant I can use this while exercising or in my Car ~noBrains. |

well dude you gotta realize md discs are NOT full quality. They use atrac compression.... so if you think you're gonna get better quality... well you'll probably get worse! Plus the ipod isnt bulky i own an old 10giger and its easy to carry around

Yeah, mp3 players can be smaller than MD players, ESPECIALLY considering you have to bring MD's and a case to store all of them. Plus, like mike said, mp3 players have better sound quality then md players.
If each disk can carry 1GB of storage, wouldn't 20 disks be alot bulkier than carrying a 20gb ipod or iriver? |
