The word for @
Hi,
This is something I've always wanted to know. What's the word for "@", I mean, I know what the symbol is used for but I want to know how it is pronounced and the way it is spelled. Thanks |

Actually that's not entirely true because it depends on what language you speak!
For example the @ symbol for spanish people is called "arroba". And the @ symbol in Dutch is called "apestaartje", which means "monkey tail". There's a website out there somewhere that tells you loads more, not that I can remember the address for it though but I'm sure if you search for it you will find it.

Then from there we could discuss more on subject like where did the @ symbol originate from. So people please try and build more on the subjects than go against them! Thanks.

I was NOT going against anybody. Did you not see the smiley with the tongue sticking out in my post. It was never my intention to go AGAINST anyone. At least the next person that posted after me got the jist of it, laughed and asked a question that pertains to the subject matter. I did contribute positievly to the question asked. A little humor or even a sense of humor is nice sometimes. You don't have to be all serious and to the book with everything. I mean I know that you are admin and all. That doesn't mean that you have to be so serious all the time. I guess you just don't have a sense of humor today. Basically you took that the wrong way. For you to infer that I was going AGAINST the subject simply means that you were wrong. |

Anyway no I'm not always going by the book, because even us administrators have to have some fun and games every so often but at the same time as doing so I also have to make sure everything keeps in order because I’ve put a lot of effort into this community and I don’t want it going to waste! Ask around if you like I'm sure you’ll see that I'm not always serious and love a laugh! ps. Dont ever tell me I'm wrong!
