With the option of downloading music from the internet becoming more and more popular, is the end of the road near for our old friend the CD?

Anyway, no, not for a while. It's a sturdy technology, and there's plenty of it around. For people like me that have gone through several major format changes already in our lifetimes, enough is enough.
For people just starting out, 'new' formats are fine, but I'm not changing over my whole collection again.
