Yes, I've seen quite a few reports about this alarming trend, in this and other societies in which female children are not as highly valued.
Many also refer to China, particularly since strict government population controls were introduced. |

Well, it is harmful for the social replacement system since now there is a shortage of 10 million women for the men, comparable to the 30-40 million of China. In India, I think it is also officially illegal to ask the gender of one's child after ultrasonic observation. Anyway, I'm pro-choice, so let the mother decide.
