How to get domain names

Does anyone know where i can get a free domain name from. I don't mean www.freewebs.com/jokeshacking, for example. I want to know where to get one without the providers name involved.

For some reason I say this in every post, but I'll say it here. Have you tried '.tk' domains? I do not recommend them because it's sort of slow, but it beats

Otherwise, sometimes there are free info domains available at certain sites...
