Do you actually buy them with GC$ When you buy them at the "Shop"?

Yes, when you buy a domain in the Google Shop you buy them with GC$. I prefer to buy my domains at godaddy.

Yahoo has a promotional price of 2.99. Don't forget to lock your domain though.
