What is the best way to start a conversation with a stranger?

first introduce your self, try to have his/her name... then from that make his/her feel at home like his/her your friend.

i definitely dont wanted to introduce my name,unless he ask for it..

something make yourself approachable and then
don't forget to say thank you after he/she answer
your question.

Depends on the situation... see someone attractive: bump into them hard... stare at them for 22 seconds(not shorter not longer) and make faces(include sticking out your tongue)

Why not just say, 'Hi' and see where it goes? Maybe that person has been wanting to talk to you, or maybe that person doesn't want to talk to you at all.
