stupidity?

I have this friend from high school and he's been so in love with just one girl since then... its been 8 years since they first met and 4 years since they got separated(graduated from high school and went on different college). I don't even think that this girl knows that he is alive....
I would often ask him then if he loved this girl, and he would always say yes, but when I saw him after some few years, he answered, the same "I totally do" ...
I don't know about him, but i think its just frustration... In every man's life, theres always that one girl that got away...
so what do you think?? is it love or just a simple frustration...

He should try to contact her and see if there is still something there for her too. If not, he needs to move on.
