US game developer Quest Online has announced the name change for its developing game “Crusade” to “Alganon” due to the reason that the name of this MMORPG is too similar with World of Warcraft- Burning Crusade.
CEO of Quest Online David Allen said the name change would be a successful tool for Alganon to distinguish itself from others in this competitive market. The company is still developing Alganon, the estimated time for it to be on the market is 2008 or 2009.
Alganon absorbs the merits of other MMORPG, and creating even more features and fun from the foundation of MMORPG. “Every effort we put into Alganon will show players the world of Alganon, its history, and what it will bring to players all around the world and how Alganon will bring MMORPG to a whole new level”, David Aleen said.
Alganon is the first MMORPG for Quest Online to march into the market. The developing team is very strong, main producer David Allen is very rich in experience whom has participated in the development of “Demise”, “Battle Realms Mordor” and “Horizon” etc.
In Alganon, players can choose races and occupations, creating groups, exercising trade activities, and engage in crusade from Battalions and Legions. This game surely brings challenges and fun for those lovers of MMORPG.
Quest Online they got no choice. That’s why the CEO said the name changing could be a successful tool for the game to get a certain market segment. If they are stronger than WOW, they will pay anything to get the name back. Lawsuit is always a good opportunity to increase public awareness. They just do nothing and step back. I feel sorry about the game company. They even didn’t give it a try to fight for their rights. This makes me feel even worse about Blizzard and their WOW. That’s just a game, but not their weapon to dominate the world.
