Upgrading phpBB tonight/tomorrow

Just a little warning in case you notice something going on: I am scheduling an upgrade to the latest version of phpBB tonight and tomorrow, so if you encounter problems with the site, rest assured - we're just updating phpBB.

BTW: is it just me or after upgrading GC is a little bit faster in loading pages, I hope so.

what is the main difference with the upgrade???

He probably upgraded to the latest version because the previous version was vulnerable to the Santos worm... and a lot of sites have been affected already...

Sorry, it's the 'Santy' worm...

Perfect timing, that update. Never noticed a thing. But that probably was because it was 7 am here, and during that time I'm usually asleep.

Intelliot, I'm glad this forum was unaffected by the worm that was going around, another forum I'm in wasn't so lucky. We were defaced the first time in the music section alone , then two weeks later by the 'santy worm' (NeverEverNoSanity) which affected the entire site. It was never reported because they didn't want the offenders to get any publicity out of it. Zone H keeps a running tab on this if some of you are interested. Oh well, I just wanted to comment on this because it is fresh on my mind still. The owners at the other site were fixing to upgrade/modify the whole board anyways and implement version two of their community. In a word, it's still not up and running yet from the attack.
