Arrow Exclamation No links for new users policy

Hi,

First of all, thanks for your welcome message Intelliot. Hope to find lots of answers here and share the few things I know.

I understand that to be part of a
community it's necessary to follow the rules. I really appreciate your offer to express our concerns (in your wellcome message), so here it is:

My first impression about the forum has been very positive but I'd wish to express my surprise about the "links
policy" (10 posts). I understand that you have your reasons to use this filter but, in my opinion it's completely
anti-user and devalues the forum quality. Believe me I'm perplexed.

For example, in your welcome message you point to a post with the forum rules but this post have been moved and
there's a link to the new location. Obviously new users can't see that link. What a first impression!

On the other hand, to be "forced" to post 10 times before been able to follow the links is not very positive in my
opinion. I thinks users should post whenever they have something interesting to share with the community. This
policy may probably lead new users to post silly comments like "I agree" or things like that. In other words,
sometimes a single post is more valuable than 10. Don't you agree?.

Intelliot. Time is more valuable than Gold (as we say here in Spain, where I come from). When I arrived to the forum
yesterday, I was looking for 2 good scrips:

1 - A PageRank script to put on my pages and
2 - A Google Adsense tracker script better than the one I currently use.

In fact, I have found the information I was looking for, but I can't see the links, the name of the script, nothing.
Very frustrating and annoying. I hope you never see yourself in this situation that brings to my mind the uneasy relationship between bureaucracy and effectiveness.

Well. That is my only complain. Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not mad and don't pretend to start unusefull discussions. I prefer to spend my time in more productive tasks.

Please, excuse me if my English is not very good

Best Regards and congratulations for your good work,
Diego Fernandez (Diegoz)

If you're referring to the fact that your posts containing links are moderated until you have 10 posts, this is done to prevent spam. Actually, you *are* allowed to post links where necessary-- it's just that they'll be held in moderation until I approve them.

Sorry, I didn't realize that our welcome message was outdated. I've updated the link sent to all new users. Thanks!

Users aren't "forced" into 10 posts, because they should still be able to post new links. Again, it's just that these posts will be held in moderation, waiting for my approval. Yes, I definitely agree that a single post can be more valuable than 10, which is why I only ask for 10 posts and we delete most silly comments such as "I agree," so that the user will have to come up with something more thoughtful.

Sorry, this was also unintended. I've changed the setting so that all users should be able to view and post links now.

Thanks for letting me know about these problems!
