So... has anyone tried this whole beta test for Microsoft Office Live? Basically it's a (from what I can see - limited) web host. I listed my PROS and CONS below... Feel free to add your own to the list...

PROS:
It's FREE (basic option free before and after beta).
Includes hosting and free top level domain.

CONS:
Microsoft advertisement on YOUR finished site.
No html code support.
Can't add blog/message board/anything web2.0ish
Virtually no support

Which is full of info on the details... Check it out. I just wish that Google would have thought of this...

I think the disadvantages outweight the advantages on this free offer.

I agree. And web hosting is cheap enough now anyway. It would be cool though, if there was free web hosting with NO advertisements. Not gonna happen though....

I just wanted to add that the web based site designer sucks really bad.

I had the crazy thought of putting some (minor) html code into it to see what it does and it just displays it like I pasted it...

Also, I am still unsuccessful at getting the SPAN id=highlight_tag style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; COLOR: #ee6600; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: yellow; EE6600: "image SPAN id=highlight_tag style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; COLOR: blue; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ccffff; blue: "uploader to work...

One "hack" type thing I did learn, though... You have the ability to upload almost any file to the "documents" folder... So in my case I uploaded my entire site there (www.magandchar.com/documents), then if you add the html file to the equasion you end up with this address: http://magandchar.com/documents/index.htmwhich loads just like it did with my old host... This gives it a little more potential... My site is basically a home page anyway with links to the password protected info (which, from what I was told, is required by Quixtar, my business...) so I think I can make it work...

The only thing that won't work at all is pulling the feed from my weblog, but I just did that to see if it would work...

Has anyone else on here signed up? i would love to hear more feedback...
