Hiding files
For those of you wanting to hide folders I have better ways to do it. There are several open source encryption options for Windows. They are all GUI (Graphical User Interface) so even your most basic users can figure it out. They will encrypt your files so that without the proper password no one can access them. I take it thats what your trying to accomplish with the hidden folder... Here's some links to these free encryption programs.
Chaos Mash Will encrypt any type of file on your computer. No installation of this program required so it's easy to carry around with you for use on any computer to decrypt and re-encrypt files in the public. http://www.astalavista.com/index.php...detail&id=5944 True Crypt Sets aside and formats and encrypts a designated chunk of your hard drive that you can mount and dismount via the use of a password so that you and only you have access to files in that area. http://www.astalavista.com/index.php...detail&id=5742 DirLock 1.3 You can use this program to lock and and unlock individual folders on your hard drive. The hard drive has to be partitioned off as an NTFS partition but you shouldn't have to worry about that since the default format of all Windows installs is NTFS. http://www.astalavista.com/index.php...detail&id=5658 |
