I've installed it on my laptop once, and the firewall was even more poopy. I think the antivirus/firewall combination itself brought a few viruses to my laptop and it was refusing to delete any virus it found whereas when I reinstalled Norton, it got rid of the viruses flawlessly.

I'm using Norton 2005 + Adaware pro.

some times i'll go to some online scan, just in case any nasty virus prevents Norton from working properly.

Norton is good for removing viruses, but not so good for spyware. That's why i have adaware as well.

I've used Avast anti-virus before and I have to say it's pretty good too! My firewall would be Outpost, if anyone's wondering. =)

Anything that has to do with Zone Alarm is crap. It usually shuts itself down many times. Same thing too for its imitation.

personally i think two of the greatest free anti-viruses are AVG and BitDefender.

Reading some posts up, I'd like to say that it'll be interesting not to confuse an antivirus with an antispyware utility...

If you've used ZoneAlarm antivirus or firewall, you'll know that the two are identical and probably the same, only the colours are different :S..I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite and it works pretty good for me but for antivirus I use Norton.

I've used both Norton Antivirus and Avast Antivirus. Avast Antivirus is pretty good overall, much like Norton Antivirus. However, even though it says it's free, after 6 months or so it says you have to pay in order to continue using it. So it's more like a trial rather than freeware.

My dad uses Norton Internet Security, but only cuz he gets it free. Its bloated, and takes up way too much memory, plus the $100+ price tag. I use AVG
