I'm using a 40GB Maxtor currently, I have another one that is the same size, but it's being used as paper weight for the time being. I would like a larger one ,but with my web habits it takes a long time for me to use up any substantial space on it. I have 75% free space right now.

Scandisk and defrag are quick with this little HDD.
Is yours a Seagate Barracuda?

The correct question is "What is the storage capacity of your hard drive?".
If you ask "What is the size of your hard drive?", you're asking for it's size/measurements.
I don't know the size of my hard drive, however the STORAGE CAPACITY is 45 GB.

Thanks Eric for the clarification, and microdude , NICE, thats what I want when I do upgrade. I need to check out Newegg and Pricewatch to see what everything is running these days.

One day maybe they will hold a brontobyte!, OK, at least a zetta or yoddabyte. Can you even imagine?!!

I gave my brother a bunch of old parts that I had laying around and ended up building him a PC with them. He never uses it though, what a crime, huh?!

Good grief stuff2do, at that rate you will need more storage. You need to burn some of that material onto disc's. Get you one of those dual-layer DVD+RW players that hold 8.5 Gbytes per disc. It actually lets you record 4 hours of DVD-quality video or 16 hours of VHS-quality before needing to flip the disc, almost doubling the old DVD standard.

<--Click Pic twice

Quote:
The dual-layer DVD+R system uses two thin embedded organic dye films for data storage separated by a spacer layer (see figure). Heating with a focused laser beam irreversibly modifies the physical and chemical structure of each layer such that the modified areas have different optical properties to those of their unmodified surroundings. This causes a variation in reflectivity as the disc rotates to provide a read-out signal as with commercially pressed read-only discs.

Cool intelliot, I bet that comes in handy. It must be nice not having to worry about how much space is left on the ole HDD before downloading stuff all of the time.
