"Foreign" Google

When I go to Google it now lands on Australia or Japan or UK Google. Is this a common problem? I suspect it is some sort of virus but have never heard of this problem. If it is a virus then it is a strange one...

Anyone else heard of this? Thx.

Hello Kentbetts, I can't get it to simulate the problem you are having, are you linking from somewhere or typing it in manually? How long has it been acting that way for you? It is very strange, I would run a few scans on your HDD to make sure that your PC is free and clear of anything. I now that the mydoom virus is on the loose again, but I need to read more to see what all the symptoms of it are. Interesting and scary, too!

It happens randomly for me occassionally. Usually I get redirected to Google HK(Hong Kong) when it occurs. I advise you to clean your cache and change your google preferences from their site.

Wow - this is bad

It has been going on for 2-3 days. Started with google australia, then uk, now Japan.

When I use favorites or type it in, it sits there for 2 seconds and then the addr line changes to:

http://www.google.co.jp/

I will scan it with Norton. I figured this was a common problem. I can't believe this. Sheesh.

Do you mean to delete cookies?

and change your google preferences from their site.

Sounds like a good idea, but am unfamiliar with this. Does google have a preferences capability? Not sure who "their" is....

Well, good explanation Stuff2do, but then why do I always get google.com instead of google.ca?

I think that the google redirects depending on the load on the server google.com.

I don't know why you have that. I do get redirected to google.nl, but only if I once clicked the "Go to Google Nederland". Otherwise it's just google.com.
