Hello there mosherr, welcome to google community.

Instead of me trying to explain one way of doing it I've taken the liberty of uploading a simple excel spreadsheet which I'm sure you will be able to understand and work out very easily.

Download it here:
http://www.darrenstraight.sizzly.com.../excel/sum.xls

I myself asked this question here tree monts ago but I was not so lucky:
http://www.googlecommunity.com/about2219.html

But anyway my way of doing seems to work.

If there’s anything that you don’t understand please let me know, also please let me know if it did help you out.

Thanks
Darren Straight
