Red face something's gone haywire

Would someone know why I have to click on a site google found for me 3 times before actually going to that site. The first 2 clicks bring me to other search sites and I hit the back button each time and the third time I click I actually arrive at the desired site. I have used Adaware and Spybot to try and clean any problems out of my computer but the problem persists. I have been using Google for years and this has only happened in the past few weeks or so. I am using the primitive Windows 98 system for I was recently laid off from work and fianacially I can not afford to upgrade at this time. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
