New Operating System

Hi folks,

I am wondering if I should install a new operating system. I am presently using Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4).

I have a Dell OptiPlex GX260 computer (1 gig RAM) and it is approximately five years old.

I recently had my brother-in-law install 500 gig of internal hard drive space as a new drive D but I'm still using drive C as the main. C only has 10 gig of free space left.

What would the Community recommend? Keep in mind that I'm not capable of installing a new OS and would probably have it done by a professional technician.
