Mouse problem pointing...

Hello, could anyone tell me how to fix my mouse (if such is possible)? I have WinXP, IE 6.0, OE 6.0.

It's a plain Logitech and it's now difficult to control pointing it; it's not going where I try to make it go.

Since it's not a mechanical mouse, there's nothing to clean as I did with my previous one. This one has a red light underneath and it is working well except for the problems developed recently as described above.

Below are data I tried to get from this mouse, though it's very difficult to read the very fine print and white color letters on light grey, even with a strong magnifying glass!!! But here they are in case it helps?:

OPTICAL MOUSE USB
M/N: M-UV96
HCA62002925 (or HCA82002925?)
P/N: 831139-8000 (or 831139-B000?)
Don't know if it came with Logitech software.
