Linux Vs. Windows

What are the advantages of using linux? A friend of mine uses it, and it does look smart, but what makes Linux so good? Especially if you can't play your favourite games, or install things easily..

I'm not saying I dont like Linux, I think it looks cool, I just thought if so many people are switching now, it must be good, but in what ways...

Becuase it has more open source software on it.

And, Linux have lower chance for being hacked and have a lower chance to get virusesojans/worms.

Also for security reasons on servers and If you want to connect to Internet I suggest you use it beacuse it is more stable and viruses protected more than Windows however the themes and features may not show correctly.
